Classic partial massage

treatment overview

A traditional massage treatment in which the therapist’s hands use a special set of strokes acting on soft tissues both superficially and deeper. The massage accelerates the removal of superficial hardened skin residues, normalizes tension in the skin and subcutaneous tissue and, in depth, in muscular structures, improves muscle function, improves blood circulation and induces an overall pleasant feeling.

how it works

The therapist, using a gliding agent (emulsion, oil, cream), massages the skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscles on various parts of the body with special strokes – rubbing, kneading, tapping, etc. A partial massage is usually for the back and neck, a full-body massage for the whole body.

main indications

  • diseases and pain of the spine and joints
  • chronic rheumatic diseases
  • nervous disorders
  • convalescence after serious injuries and illnesses, and conditions of overall exhaustion, stress and muscle fatigue

Cupping

treatment overview

A reflex treatment influencing disorders of the musculoskeletal system and internal diseases. In cupping, we act similarly to acupuncture on active points and whole meridian areas.
Meridians – pathways in the body through which life energy (qi) flows.

how it works

The patient, undressed to underwear, lies on the couch on their stomach and the therapist applies cups to reflex points according to a prescribed scheme. Using a flame, we create a vacuum in the cup and place it on the body. The vacuum pulls the skin and subcutaneous tissue with connective tissue into the cup, where intensive hyperaemia occurs. This then supports metabolism, stimulates substance exchange, supports blood circulation and helps release qi energy.

main indications

  • musculoskeletal disorders
  • internal diseases

main contraindications

  • damaged or diseased skin – rashes, eczema, haematomas, injuries or purulent infections
  • acute general illness
  • use of blood-thinning medication – anticoagulants

Carbon dioxide bath

treatment overview

This is one of the historically oldest classic hydrotherapy treatments. A CO2 bath is administered at a temperature of 28–34°C; at higher temperatures, carbon dioxide escapes quickly into the air and the bath is ineffective.

how it works

The unclothed client immerses in the bath and remains completely still for the duration. The skin begins to be covered with a greater or smaller amount of carbon dioxide bubbles. The initial feeling of cold is replaced by a mild feeling of warmth, blood pressure decreases and overall muscular and mental relaxation occurs.

main indications

  • cardiovascular disease
  • high blood pressure

main contraindications

  • low blood pressure
  • acute inflammation of the heart
  • arrhythmia, tachyarrhythmia
  • anaemia, weeping skin diseases
  • damaged skin covering, epilepsy

Dry carbon dioxide bath

treatment overview

A dry carbon dioxide bath is a form of applying gaseous carbon dioxide to the body in a sealed plastic bag. After the gas is absorbed through the skin, tissue perfusion improves, accelerating healing and regenerative processes. Muscle fatigue decreases and blood pressure values may improve.

how it works

A spa attendant guides the client into the cabin and asks them to undress to underwear. The client lies down on a lounger and the attendant slides them into the plastic bag, which is then filled with carbon dioxide. After the time has elapsed, the attendant helps the client carefully out of the bag so they do not inhale the released CO₂.

main indications

  • arterial hypertension
  • ischemic heart disease
  • diabetes mellitus with perfusion disorders, venous insufficiency, pressure sores, slow-healing wounds

main contraindications

  • severe anaemia and polyglobulia
  • severe heart failure

Instrumental lymphatic drainage (Lymfoven)

treatment overview

We use instrumental lymphatic drainage to treat lymphatic swelling of the upper and lower limbs, whether primary (congenital) or secondary (post-operative conditions, after injuries, etc.). Before prescribing treatments, an examination by a specialist physician is necessary, who will distinguish these swellings from oedema caused by internal organ disorders. Instrumental lymphatic drainage is also used for its cosmetic effects.

how it works

Before the procedure starts, a lymph therapist performs a basic treatment of the lymph nodes. Then the client is fitted with special sleeves for the upper and lower limbs. The sleeves are divided into several air chambers which, using electromagnetic valves, are inflated with air under a certain pressure. The air compression stimulates manual lymphatic drainage. After the procedure, it is advisable to put a compression sleeve on the treated limb to maintain the drainage effect long-term.

main indications

  • primary and secondary lymphedema
  • gynoid obesity
  • heavy and tired legs syndrome
  • chronic venous insufficiency without inflammatory symptoms
  • cellulite
  • cosmetically disturbing swelling in the neck and head area

Paraffin hand wrap

treatment overview

Paraffin is a substance that can accumulate heat and, when changing from liquid to solid, releases heat by contact with its surroundings. This phenomenon is used in paraffin hand wraps. The treatment is indicated primarily for rheumatological conditions in a stage without active inflammation, and it is also popular for its side effect – it softens the skin.

how it works

Clean, disinfected hands free of jewellery and watches are dipped into a bath of paraffin at the staff’s instruction. For better wrap quality, the guest dips their hands three times, with short pauses to let excess paraffin drip off and to allow the already applied paraffin to slightly set. In the final phase, each hand is wrapped separately and the wrap is left to act.

main indications

  • chronic rheumatic diseases, especially of the small joints of the hands

main contraindications

  • open skin disease
  • oncological diseases
  • uncontrolled hypertension

alternative treatment

  • whirlpool bath for upper limbs

duration

  • 20 minutes

what to bring

Peat wrap

treatment overview

Peat is a black substance formed in nature by the decomposition of plants and is used for therapeutic purposes in a crushed state mixed with water. A mud/peat wrap has a temperature of 42–44°C, is applied to physician-designated parts of the body and left to act for 15–20 minutes. At the application site, the effect of contained substances is applied to the skin, especially sulfur compounds, iron and humic acids. This treatment increases blood circulation in tissues and the whole body, releases muscle tension and reduces pain. In addition to this analgesic and regenerative effect, the application of mud/peat baths and wraps also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

how it works

The client undresses and lies down on a lounger. The peat is applied directly to the skin according to the schedule and the physician’s orders; after the exposure time, it is washed off with drinking water. This is followed by rest on a bed in a dry wrap.

Paraffin back wrap

treatment overview

A paraffin wrap is a form of thermotherapy in which a cotton cloth soaked in heated paraffin is applied to the bare part of the body prescribed by a physician, warming the joints. The heat source is the released latent heat as paraffin changes from liquid to solid. Because paraffin releases heat very slowly, joints, tight muscles or the spine are warmed gently.
An alternative may be a honey, chocolate or hemp wrap.

how it works

Paraffin sheets are placed on pre-designated parts of the client’s body and covered with a plastic sheet and a warm blanket. The guest lies with the wrap on a lounger for 20 minutes; afterwards, an orderly removes the covers and cleans the client.
